vote today!

This is the infamous house that has a porch that Certain People have never been invited to sit on and smoke cigarettes and Certain Other People have never been invited to with their dog who has a name beginning with R. I should mention that the porch furniture is even more marginal than that at Claudia's Surf City. But it does have those little depressions in the arms for beer cans. Tasteful, right? The view from this porch, too, is quite nice—a straight shot over CSC to the ocean which is Much Further Away than it is from my place. Not to mention that you can't hear the waves, only the soothing white noise of the power plant.
Still, this house belongs to one of my dearest friends, and I have spent some happy hours on the porch. Which I have been invited to often. It is classically and tastefully decorated inside. OK, there's one tiny bathroom, no dishwasher, the microwave blows the power unless it's on top of the refrigerator where you can't reach it and the basement is downright spooky, but that's the price you pay for living in a museum. With ghosts.
Please write in (or call 1-800-TELL-EDIE) with your votes for Which House Dan Should Rent next summer.
All votes will be compiled and analyzed by the Hatfield-McCoy Auditing Service. Owners not permitted to vote.
All others VOTE NOW! VOTE OFTEN! VOTE CSC!

Hey, whose blog friend are you, anyway?

I really like the peace and quiet at The Other House (the one with the great views) My dog, Otis and I spent many special early mornings in the peace and quiet of the hill. OCEAN SMELLS AN SCENTS DO WAFT UP THE HILL! Don't forget the marvellous view from the front porch! I cast my vote for, as the Good View House Owners daughter used to call it, "House Of Hat."

House of Hat, 1
CSC 0

Dear Dan: Claudia tells me that you are spending so much time blogging, you may not be able to afford to rent CSC next year. Here is what I have to say about that:
CSC $3,400 perweek
House of Hat $2,400 per week.
Now, mind you, she also told me that she will kill me if I steal you from her. So I won't, and wouldn't, as One-Who-Loves-Her. But this is certainly fun, isn't it?

OOP! I meant to say
House of Hat 2
CSC 0

That's $3600. Dork
Just reminding you of the lineup this summer:
House of Hat 0
The real McCoy: 1

Please note: Johnny doesn't have screens either. or a deck.
Also what is a "loos"?

Bathroom, mother. You are sooo unevolved.

And I vote CSC. Unless you like rolling down hills. Then I vote House of Hat. Of course, If you rent CSC then you can smoke and bring your dog and there are many cool friends that come along with renting...and you can always go and sit on their porches if you want to roll down hills and rest your drink in a tacky drink holder.

Ballard "fucking" Hall is right...Rex doesn't beling in any of Johnny's houses. The houses would get messed up and he who owns and sees all might have a wee bit of anxiety.

Of course...now that we are comparing houses for rent. My father and his grilfriend have a very nice house with a brand new deck and new paint. It is very nice. The outdoor shower is even private. Who would have thought of that??

I wish Peter Jennings was still around to cover this.

my father and his girlfriend just adore dogs. Especially those who smoke. And I already explained a loo at the top of my post. Thank you.

That house with that shower used to be MINE. In fact, MY father got a serious case of crotch poison ivy digging that shower when I was pregnant with YOU you ungrateful citichild. Now you want to shop my primo tenants to the competition? I'm calling Dan Rather.

Dear Citichild: I love you! I think, and have thought, since you were a small child, that you were a born humanitarian. You certainly know how to handle your mother.
When Edie retires, I want you for my realtor.

P.S.Woo and I think we'll teach our cats to smoke.

CSC, even though it needs new french doors. Fiberglass ones.

Claudia said...

That's two for me! Still not that heavily into fiberglass, however.

Not yet, that is. Dennis is coming back from England this fall. Maybe he could be one of the boy toy team of carpenters you hire for CSCII. We expect to see a lot of installations.

By the way, Dan: The when you get all the way up in the tower...take the hatchway to the peak...you can see around the whole island. The small room underneath it I use primarily for storage. But in the past it has made a nice little sitting room. Or a bedroom. Sort of small, though. Rex-sized. Since there are only three of you, the house would be perfect. Even though there IS only one bathroom, as certain rival homeowners point out , there is a very nice, poison-ivy free, highly private outdoor shower. But you know, Citibroker's dad's house is old-island-charming, too. And you can walk across the road to the same beach you walked to at CSC. Sorry to hear about your hamstring. My house was at one point an annex to the Hygiea Hotel, which was a favoured spa for recovering urbanites.

House of this, house of hat. Yours for tit, mine for tat.
I cannot believe that no one has mentioned that from CSC you can se three (yes, three, count 'em) bodies of water). And further more, the property, having been once a island bottle dump, is waaay more historical. And, I picked up (well we all did) pieces of glass for about ten fucking years to make that lawn. And somewhere under that pond two cars are buried...well that is how th folklore goes anyway...but you'd never know...if you didn't vote for CSC. VOTE NOW! CSC! I promise to tell all the gorey secrets...and we have a trampoline. And we don't mind sand!! Plus, it is, totally, like, gossip central...anyone who's anyone knows that. Poo, poo Houyse of said Hat!

I can attest that Claudia's Surf City is where you want to be if you need to mend your broken heart. Please don't be fooled by the Hussy of the House of Hat. Karma, Angelina, karma...

Anonymous said...

And I can attest that CSC is mad child-friendly. Have you seen the mouse room? Angelina Laide, it's time for you to recognize and respect.

C's house ....my vote all the time....dogs are always welcome even if they are not renters....and porch sitting and smoking is always ok.
