After the ceremonial liftoff of the skyborne lanterns last night, we took off for the Goose this morning, landing safe in the Ozarks some ten hours later. I guess I should specify that "we" is me, H and C and the grandbaby.

You can buy these cloth balloons. You light them and the hot air takes them up up and away, where they presumably flame out before landing. All biodegradable, of course. Would be way cool on Block Island. You can order them on Amazon.
