The view from Joe and Holly's house. I did not put the bananas in my backpack. I put them in the refrigerator. I doubt they're that good any more.

When life gives you rotten bananas make banana bread

Heard on the radio driving back from dog sitting on Long Island the other day that you can indeed put bananas in the fridge without hurting them, unlike what the Chichita ditty would have you believe. Apparently--and this is from the guy who wrote the current banana book--bananas are shipped under refrigeration as this slows their ripening. Once you have them home and they are getting spotted, you can slow this down by putting them back under refrigeration. The skin will turn brown, but the inside will not be hurt. So cool your bananas, girl.
