windo-rama
Today I need to finalize the window order. The second story small windows are the problem. They are about 18 inches off the floor—any lower and they have to be tempered glass. They can't go any higher. They can't be double hung, because they are too small, so they have to be awning or casement. Awning goes out from the top, casement from the side. They tell me casements are dumb in this wind. OK. How do screens work in awnings? Or, for that matter, in the French doors upstairs?
However, I have changed the size of the windows below. They are now two inches wider. Obviously, the windows above were designed to float directly over the top of the ones on the lower floor. I'm not sure whether they make a square window two inches wider, but if they do, it will be even closer to the floor. Sigh.
Also, they don't make a diamond window. So I will either have to make it myself or pick something else or not put it in. I have this feeling I won't be wanting to make a window around about July.
What's a girl to do? And quickly.
Scrap the little windows. Looks silly. Use one door on deck with two side panell windows. So much for arm chair ozark wariors!
ReplyDeleteOMG. I cannot cope -- and I'm just reading about it. What are you gonna do? It's looks so nice on paper. Did Bill Gates go through this when he built his house?
ReplyDeletethere are small second storey casement windows where Hannah's little brother lives that you should look at.
ReplyDeleteLike, how small? And what brand?
ReplyDeleteforgot to mention that on your former b-n-law's of the yellow house's birthday at three seconds and two minutes after one am, it will be 1,2,3,4,5,6.
ReplyDeletethe screens are hung from the inside of the casements... which looks better on the out side. Did the HPC require you to have true or simulated divided light whereby the exterior muntons have a profile/dimention? Expensive but worth it. The diamond can be done not as a window, but as an a decoration... which can be made into a real window at a later date, if necessary. I agree with "Use one door on deck with two side panell windows" as I have always thought french doors look out of place. I really think that you have a very nice design though which complements the 3 other buildings. Finally, don't go with 2" wider windows on the 2nd. You won't miss that from the inside looking out but you will hate the look from the outside.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the windows have factory-built dividers on inside and outside. And it's two inches wider on the bottom, which is fainly better. Anyway the window guy comes again today, o I have to look at the new order now.
ReplyDeleteit's ok to use tempered glass no big deal i just had to do it for the same reason the picture looks great....
